The BBC Live Lounge is known for producing stellar live covers of pop songs. Just in its seventh year, the ongoing series has quickly become a popular way to explore new ground with hit songs of the past year while showcasing the amazing talent of the artists who owned the past twelve months. Florence Welch, Jamie Cullum, Taio Cruz have all made their way through the studio to produce a rocking cover jam. This year proved to be no different. Miley Cyrus, Vampire Weekend and Bastille all knocked it out of the park with unexpectedly amazing covers that really made one wonder if they should have sung the song in the first place.

13. HAIM, “Wrecking Ball”
Originally by Miley Cyrus

The first of two Miley covers on this list is all ’80s glam. These girls proved at the YOK Concert how rocking they are.

12. Queens Of The Stone Age, “Blurred Lines”
Originally by Robin Thicke

This is definitely the most inventive take on the song.
