Remember the halcyon morning of November 8th? One of the big stories was that Donald Trump had spent his last night of campaigning claiming that Patriots coach Bill Belichick and Patriots QB Tom Brady had endorsed him. Neither Belichick nor Brady came out and said anything before the election, although in fairness, Brady seemed to indicate back in October that he was still friends with Trump. It would not surprise me in the least if Brady did vote for Trump. Well, someone asked Gisele Bundchen whether she and Tom were supporting Trump and she replied “No!” Except that yeah, Brady still probably voted for Trump. Belichick too.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick addressed the letter read aloud by Donald Trump at a rally this week, telling reporters Wednesday that the note doesn’t necessarily mean he’s aligned with the president-elect politically.

“Our friendship goes back many years,” Belichick said at a news conference. “Anybody who spends more than five minutes with me knows I’m not a political person. My comments are not politically motivated. I have a friendship with Donald…I write hundreds of letters and notes every month. It doesn’t mean I agree with every single thing a person thinks about politics, religion and other subjects. I have multiple friendships that are important to me. That’s what that is all about. It’s not about politics. It’s about football. We have a huge football game this week against a great team, a great organization. That’s where it all is going forward.”

Belichick meant he was moving forward and done with the Trump questions. A reporter who asked a follow-up was greeted with “Seattle” uttered repeatedly by Belichick.

Brady was more reluctant to talk about the election Wednesday even though he and Trump have had a chummy relationship.

“Yeah, I talked to my wife,” said Brady, “she said I can’t talk about politics anymore, so I think that’s a good decision made for our family.”

Despite whatever political differences might exist among the players, he didn’t expect the Patriots would be distracted from the focus on pursuing a fifth Super Bowl since 2001, or Sunday night’s game against the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks.

“We’re all on the same team, we’re all from different places, different backgrounds, different ages, races, ethnicities, beliefs,” said Brady, “but when you come in a locker room, you’re all trying to, I guess put whatever feelings you have about anything aside to try to accomplish a common goal.”

[From USA Today]

One, I bet Gisele was PISSED that Tom voted for Trump. Don’t you think? I would imagine that Brady actually doesn’t talk about politics at home, mostly because he doesn’t care about anything other than football and diets, but Gisele does care. Little does she know that she’s one of the “hot” immigrants who gets to stay in Donald Trump’s America. No deportations for any hot models, but you have to be a C-cup or higher. Second point: “We’re all on the same team, we’re all from different places, different backgrounds, different ages, races, ethnicities, beliefs but when you come in a locker room, you’re all trying to, I guess put whatever feelings you have about anything aside to try to accomplish a common goal.” It’s funny because he thinks a football team is the only place where people should put aside their differences and work towards a common goal.
