Fredrik Wikingsson (born August 16, 1973) is a Swedish journalist, TV host, podcaster, filmmaker, and author. He is best known as one half of the celebrated duo Filip & Fredrik, alongside his longtime creative partner Filip Hammar.

Early Life and Education

Fredrik Wikingsson was born in Trollhättan, Västergötland, Sweden. He grew up in Otterbäcken in Gullspångs kommun and in Ljungaverk in Ånge kommun. Wikingsson later moved with his family to Sundsvall, where he attended Nivrenaskolan and studied the natural science program at Hedbergska skolan (now Sundsvalls gymnasium). He studied journalism at Mittuniversitetet and graduated in 1996.

Career

Wikingsson began his career as a journalist, working for publications such as Veckorevyn and Café. He met Filip Hammar at Aftonbladet in 1996, and the two quickly became friends and collaborators. Their first TV appearance together was in 2000 on the show “Hello Sydney,” covering the Olympic Games in Sydney.

The duo gained widespread recognition with their hidden camera program “Ursäkta röran (vi bygger om)” in 2002. They went on to create several successful TV shows, including “High Chaparall,” “100 höjdare,” “Grattis Världen,” “Ett herrans liv,” “Myggan,” and “Boston Tea Party.” Their unique blend of humor, originality, and outspokenness has earned them numerous awards and a dedicated fan base.

In 2015, Filip and Fredrik ventured into filmmaking with their acclaimed documentary “Nice People.” They followed this success by co-writing and directing their debut feature film, “The Cake General” (2018), which achieved significant box office success. Their latest project, “The Last Journey” (2024), is a deeply personal documentary about Filip’s aging father, Lars. The film has achieved groundbreaking success in Swedish cinemas and has been selected as Sweden’s official submission for Best International Feature at the 97th Academy Awards.

Personal Life

Fredrik Wikingsson is married to Johanna Swanberg, a former editor-in-chief of the magazine Ruby. The couple has two daughters. Wikingsson resides in Stockholm, Sweden.
