Christopher Michael Pratt (born June 21, 1979) is an American actor known for his roles in television and film. He gained initial recognition for his television roles as Bright Abbott in Everwood and Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. Pratt has since become a prominent figure in Hollywood, starring in major film franchises such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World.
Early Life
Chris Pratt was born in Virginia, Minnesota, to Kathleen Louise (née Indahl), who worked at a Safeway supermarket, and Daniel Clifton “Dan” Pratt, who worked in remodeling houses and later in mining. He was raised in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he developed an interest in acting during his high school years.
Career
Pratt’s acting career began with minor roles in television and film. He gained significant attention for his role as Bright Abbott in the television series Everwood (2002–2006). He later starred as Andy Dwyer in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation (2009–2015), a role that brought him widespread acclaim and popularity.
Pratt’s breakthrough in film came with his role as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). He reprised this role in subsequent films, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pratt also starred as Owen Grady in the Jurassic World series, beginning with Jurassic World (2015) and its sequels.
In addition to his work in action and adventure films, Pratt has voiced characters in animated films such as The Lego Movie (2014) and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019). He also voiced Mario in the animated film Super Mario Bros. (2023).
Personal Life
Pratt was married to actress Anna Faris from 2009 to 2018, with whom he has a son. In 2019, he married author Katherine Schwarzenegger, the daughter of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver. The couple has two children together.
