Joshua Ryan Hutcherson (born October 12, 1992) is an American actor and producer. He began his acting career in the early 2000s, appearing in several commercials and minor film and television roles before gaining prominence in his teenage years with main roles in films such as Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), Bridge to Terabithia (2007), and Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008).
Early Life
Hutcherson was born in Union, Kentucky, to Michelle and Chris Hutcherson. He has one younger brother, Connor. From a young age, Hutcherson expressed a desire to pursue acting, and his family moved to California to support his career.
Career
Hutcherson’s breakthrough role came in 2012 when he was cast as Peeta Mellark in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ popular book series, The Hunger Games. Starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth, Hutcherson’s performance was widely praised, and he reprised his role in the subsequent films of the series.
In addition to The Hunger Games, Hutcherson has starred in a variety of other films, including Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), The Kids Are All Right (2010), and Escobar: Paradise Lost (2014). He has also ventured into producing, with credits including the film The Disaster Artist (2017).
Personal Life
Hutcherson had a brief relationship with actress Vanessa Hudgens in 2011, his co-star in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The two have remained friends following their separation. Hutcherson is known for his advocacy work, particularly in support of the LGBT community and various humanitarian causes.
