Jeon Jung-kook (born September 1, 1997), known mononymously as Jungkook, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and member of the globally renowned boy band BTS. He is known for his versatile vocal abilities, impressive dance skills, and contributions to the group’s music and performances. Early Life and Background
Jungkook was born in Busan, South Korea. He grew up with his parents and an older brother. Jungkook developed an interest in music and dance at a young age. He attended Baekyang Elementary and Middle School in Busan before transferring to Singu Middle School in Seoul after becoming a trainee. Jungkook graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2017 and later attended Global Cyber University, where he studied Broadcasting and Entertainment.

Jungkook joined BTS through Big Hit Entertainment and debuted with the group on June 13, 2013, with the release of their single album “2 Cool 4 Skool.” He serves as the main vocalist, lead dancer, and sub-rapper of the group. BTS quickly rose to international fame, becoming one of the most successful and influential K-pop groups in history. Some of their popular songs include “Dynamite,” “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” and “Boy With Luv.”
Solo Career
In addition to his work with BTS, Jungkook has pursued solo activities. In 2022, Jungkook featured on American singer Charlie Puth’s single “Left and Right,” which peaked at number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also recorded the soundtrack song “Stay Alive” for the BTS-based webtoon “7Fates: Chakho.”
In 2023, Jungkook released his debut solo single “Seven” featuring Latto, which broke numerous chart and streaming records. The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, the Global 200, and the Global Excl. U.S. charts. His follow-up single “3D” featuring Jack Harlow also achieved significant success.
