Timothée Hal Chalamet (born December 27, 1995) is a French-American actor. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Elio Perlman in the romantic drama Call Me by Your Name (2017), for which he received nominations for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Actor, becoming the youngest nominee in that category in nearly 80 years.
Early Life and Education
Timothée Chalamet was born on December 27, 1995, in New York City. He is the son of Nicole Flender, a real estate broker and former Broadway dancer, and Marc Chalamet, a UNICEF editor and former New York correspondent for Le Parisien. Chalamet grew up in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan and attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. He later studied at Columbia University for a year before transferring to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
Career
Chalamet’s acting career began with appearances in short films and commercials. He made his feature film debut in Men, Women & Children (2014) and gained further recognition for his role as young Tom Cooper in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014). His breakthrough role came in 2017 with Call Me by Your Name, directed by Luca Guadagnino.
Following his success in Call Me by Your Name, Chalamet starred in several notable films, including Lady Bird (2017), Beautiful Boy (2018), and Little Women (2019).
