Overview Cameron Skattebo (born February 5, 2002) is an American college football running back for the Arizona State Sun Devils. He previously played for the Sacramento State Hornets and has become one of the standout players in college football.
Early Life Skattebo was born in Rio Linda, California, where he attended Rio Linda High School. During his high school career, he rushed for over 6,000 yards and 69 touchdowns, leading his team to a state championship in his junior season.
College Career Skattebo began his college career at Sacramento State in 2021. In his first season, he rushed for 520 yards and six touchdowns on 57 carries, earning third-team All-Big Sky honors. In the 2022 season, Skattebo had a breakout year, rushing for 1,382 yards and seven touchdowns. He also threw for a touchdown and returned an onside kick for a touchdown, earning first-team All-Big Sky and Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year honors. He was also named an FCS All-American.
After the 2022 season, Skattebo entered the NCAA transfer portal and transferred to Arizona State. In his first season with the Sun Devils in 2023, he rushed for 788 yards and nine touchdowns. In the 2024 season, Skattebo had an outstanding year, rushing for 1,568 yards and 19 touchdowns, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. He also contributed as a receiver, with 37 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns. Skattebo’s performance earned him first-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12 honors.
2024 Peach Bowl Performance Skattebo’s performance in the 2024 Peach Bowl was remarkable, despite Arizona State’s loss to Texas in double overtime. He put up nearly 300 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns, earning Offensive MVP honors for the game.
