Christopher Michael Pratt (born June 21, 1979) is an American actor widely recognized for his television and film roles. He initially rose to fame as Bright Abbott in Everwood and later as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. Over time, Pratt became a major Hollywood figure, starring in blockbuster franchises such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World.
Early Life
Chris Pratt was born in Virginia, Minnesota, to Kathleen Louise (née Indahl), who worked at a Safeway supermarket, and Daniel Clifton “Dan” Pratt, who remodeled houses and later worked in mining. He grew up in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he developed an early passion for acting during high school.
Career
Pratt began his acting journey with small roles in television and film. He gained traction playing Bright Abbott in Everwood (2002–2006) and earned widespread popularity as Andy Dwyer in NBC’s Parks and Recreation (2009–2015).
His film breakthrough came in 2014 as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He reprised the role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pratt also led the Jurassic World franchise, starting with Jurassic World (2015) and its sequels.
In addition to action roles, Pratt has excelled in animation. He voiced Emmet Brickowski in The Lego Movie (2014) and its 2019 sequel. He also voiced Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023).
Personal Life
Pratt married actress Anna Faris in 2009, and they share a son. Following their divorce in 2018, he married author Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019. They have two children together. Katherine is the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.
